36 Hudson Valley Parent n May 2019 Gardiner Cupcake Festival. There will be something for the whole family including over 10,000 cupcakes to choose from. Kicking off the festival is the Gardiner 5K Cupcake Classic. The festival is a day full of cupcakes, food, music, local vendors, wine tastings and activities for children including cupcake decorating, petting zoo, wagon rides and bouncy houses. The 11th Annual Millbrook Literary Festival will feature dozens of timely, thought- provoking, and thoroughly entertaining authors participating in panel discussions, readings, workshops, and signings throughout the day. Join us at our annual, free indoor/outdoor event created to provide children of the Kingston area an eclectic experience to enjoy themselves through exciting activities, interactive and educational tools, engaging, fun-loving events and appropriate entertainment. Let your creativity bloom during a fun afternoon celebrating the 2019 American Girl Doll of the Year, Blaire Wilson. The afternoon on the farm will include snacks, a terra-cotta flower pot painting and planting activity, followed by an author presentation and meet-and-greet with Jennifer Castle, the author of the two Blair Wilson books. Bring along your favorite doll or stuff to take part in the fun and Blaire books to get signed. A limited quantity of books will also be available for sale. 1-3:30pm. This is a celebration of all types of hand crafted items, especially those that are unique, interesting and UnFine! This is not your Granny's art show! Antique dealers will have some amazing "pre-upcycled" items for you to take home and give your personal touch. We will have local entertainment and food vendors. 11am-6pm. Join ethnobiologist and functional herbalist Hayden Stebbins for a walk through our farm fields and gardens. During this walk, we will learn about native plants, how to identify them by family and their edible, medicinal or poisonous properties. Participants will harvest edible plants along the walk to prepare a multi-course meal combining the harvest with regular food. 5:30-8:30pm Poughkeepsie Farm Project. 51 Vassar Farm Ln., Poughkeepsie. 21: Tuesday Baby & Me. Parents and caregivers are invited to bring babies up to age 24 months to the library for this story and lap time program. The children's librarian will share rhymes, lap games, simple books and songs with you and your little one. Afterwards, babies and adults may share a playtime and socialize together. 11am-12pm.
