Richard Montgomery was an Irish-born soldier who first served in the British Army and later became a Brigadier General in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. The Village of Montgomery, named for him, celebrates General Montgomery Day every fall with a day of vendors, live country, rock and blues music, fun events, a terrific parade, an 8K race, a soap box derby, and an evening of fireworks.
