Teens and technology go hand-in-hand.
Smartphones, tablets and laptops have opened a
seemingly limitless world of online opportunities for
older kids. From an around-the-clock ability to con-
nect with friends to digital picture-taking and on-
line photo-sharing, virtual gaming programs, digital
study lessons, and much more, for better or worse, a
vast world of virtual platforms, literally, is at many
teens' fingertips.
Much of what's available through mobile and
online technology is valuable and entertaining, but
some kids develop an unhealthy reliance on-even
an addiction to-virtual programs and offerings, like
online gaming.
Read on for expert and parent opinions on the
topic from Dr. Paul Schwartz and Jill Valentino of
HVP's Real Talk series on parenting teens, including
how to talk with your children about online gam-
ing, what to watch for if you suspect that your child
might be addicted to the
games, and how to help.
Video gaming can be a
lot fun. Make sure your
kids use good judgement
when they play them.
