4 Hudson Valley Parent n Spring 2020 child have fun , take the lead and be the instructor for the night. Teach a skill. Crocheting, knitting, sewing and the like teach valuable skills like patience and math while encour- aging hand-eye coordination. Use what you have on-hand to introduce your kids to a creative talent that might be new to them. Have fun crafting friend- ship bracelets for each family member, or folding paper planes. Dedicate a few evenings to finishing bigger projects. Share the fun, virtually. Take turns recording silly videos of family members dancing or singing to upbeat music and share them with family or friends for a fun way to stay connected. Or make DIY videos of easy projects, like tissue paper flowers, for more shareable fun. Decorate your home. Create a unique work of art to hang in your home. Hand- prints on canvas with a special family word makes a great addition anywhere in your home. A family photo collage, or family photos decoupaged onto wood pieces will look beautiful at the family dining area, or in a family room. Put away the cell phones, turn up the music and sit together to create. No pressure for perfection, just enjoy the process and spend some time together. I guarantee the memories you make will outlive the individual crafts you create together. The Whatever Mom is a full-time wife and twin mama living on coffee and wine.
