Restrictions imposed because of COVID-19 are
challenging for nearly all of us. But for many teens,
social distancing can be more difficult for them to
manage than it is for others. Being physically sepa-
rated from friends, school, sports and extra-curric-
ular activities is tough on most kids. So is the delay
or cancellation of anticipated milestones, like gradu-
ation, proms and college visits.
Organizations in the Hudson Valley and beyond
have stepped up in support of teens, providing them
with virtual and at-home ways to stay connected
and engaged. In this issue, HVP presents some of
the great projects available, including online pro-
grams and live-stream offerings in the arts, sciences,
education and social areas. Each one helps to bring
teens together and inspire creativity, giving them
outlets to express themselves, talk with others and
share good times.
Being at home also has given teens and their
families opportunities to spend more time together,
whether it's regular family
dinners, old-school card and
board games, watching down-
loaded or streamed movies or
competing in family-friendly
online games together. This
issue presents a list of sites
we've put together to kick off
your family gatherings.
Teens are terrific company.
