Stomping Through the Weeds

Hudson Valley Parent 7
Robin loved the sounds of birds chirping, and the whooshing
of the leaves when the wind blew. He also loved watching the
birds visit the two bird feeders their Mom put up last spring.
The birds flew from the feeders to the trees and then back
again. He studied the flowers as they nodded their heads in
the breeze.
"I'm sad," Robin said to Willow. "I like to paint the flowers
because I love their colors, but now it's getting colder, and
the flowers are almost all gone.
"When I asked Mom about the flowers, she said that most
flowers bloom in the spring. That means they won't be back
for at least six months and maybe longer. I will have to go the
whole winter without them."
