You can't just pull over to the next travel stop and hope for the best. Gluten-free travel requires careful planning. Recently I drove from New York to Louisiana, flew to Vancouver, and took a cruise through Asia. As the president and founder of the Celiac Disease Foundation, Hudson Valley NY Chapter, and an avid traveler, I have conquered the road, air and sea while remaining gluten-free. Here are some tips to help you do the same: Road trip Determine how many meals and snacks you'll need and hit the road af- ter a hearty breakfast, like pancakes. Use a cooler that plugs into your car's cigarette lighter for cold items. Using an essential smart phone app called "Find Me Gluten Free," which locates nearby gluten-free friendly restau- rants wherever you are in the United States, plot a lunch break and order extras for the next day.
