What are your
tips for dining out
with kids?
Never wait until kids are starv-
ing! Bring a phone or iPad in
case of meltdown emergencies,
bring little toys that can attach to
things to keep pre-toddlers busy,
and drink so you stop caring
what people are thinking when
your kids scream.
— Jackie Askew
Make sure they are rested. That
means don't skip naps and bed
time because it's convenient for
the grown-ups.
— Mary Ann McCullough
We go early, 5:00 - 5:30, and we
go to more relaxed places. We
think about what to order before
getting there and order our son's
food to come out with the appe
-
tizers. But we also include him
in the conversations even if it's
just about what to color or things
around the place. Most kids mis-
behave because they are bored,
not because they are bad kids.
— Jennifer Witkowski-Kugler
Feeding little ones before you go
works also. You never know how
long the wait will be, even with
reservations. A hungry child can
turn surly within minutes.
— Susan Silvano
Order an appetizer so the kids
have something to munch while
they're waiting for their food.
And for a back-up plan when
they finish eating in three
minutes flat, bring iPhones!
