hvparent.com n Hudson Valley Parent 25 Eating to live well is just one part of the equation. Equally important is getting your body moving again and making physi- cal activity a regular part of your new lifestyle. Here are some of the more helpful exercise tips Merlyn picked up from the program: 1. Take baby steps – Starting slowly is important, but walking is a great form of exercise and you can do it pretty much anywhere. 2. Schedule it – One of the biggest obstacles for busy parents is finding time to exercise. Carve out a spot in your schedule that is just for you to exercise to feel good about yourself and set a healthy example for your kids. 3. Buddy up – Find a friend to exercise with you. You can hold each other accountable to keep on track. 4. Training assistance – If you have the means, the one-on-one guidance from a personal trainer to help you set achievable fitness goals and formulate an exercise plan is an invaluable way to help keep you motivated. 5. Shake it up – To avoid get- ting bored with your workouts, try something new, like taking a yoga class, going for a bike ride, or taking some salsa dance lessons. 5 great exercise tips To learn more about applying for health insurance including Child Health Plus and Medicaid through NY State of Health™, the Official Health Plan Marketplace, visit www.nystateofhealth.ny.gov or call 1-855-355-5777.
