It fea- tures lots of amenities and activities for all ages, including a large play- ground area with a climbing wall, horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, picnic area grills. Located partially in both Orange and Rockland Counties, Harriman State Park is the second largest of all New York State parks, boasting 31 lakes (including Lakes Welch, Sebago, Tiorati and Silvermine), 200 miles of hiking trails, beaches, two public camping areas, cabin and boat rentals, and a museum/visitors center. Because the area includes one of the largest tidal Hudson River wetlands, the Iona Island/Doodle- town Bird Conservation Area (BCA) is located within the park as well. Sullivan safe havens A 1409-acre paradise, the ame- nities at Lake Superior State Park include a boat launch, hiking trails, fishing, swimming, paddle and row boat rentals, picnic areas with grills, a volleyball court, a playground and more. The park is open on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through June, then daily the last week in June through Labor Day. The 120-acre Mongaup Pond is one of the largest bodies of water in this part of the state.
