Despite the efforts of doctors to prolong the pregnancy, I was forced to deliver because of an infec- tion. One week after I arrived at the hospital, my boys decided to make their grand entrance into the world. Andrew Joseph was born first, weighing 2 pounds, 8 ounces. JohnCarlo was born next, weighing 2 pounds, 6 ounces. Both of my sons were a mere 15 inches long. As soon as I delivered them, they were rushed to the NICU. The unthinkable happens It wasn't until the next day when I was able to finally see them again. JohnCarlo made it to the NICU and was being monitored. Sadly, my son Andrew never made it out of the transitional nursery. He fought hard for his life for two days. He was to be his brother's angel. My survivor, JohnCarlo, remained in the NICU, fighting for his life, for 85 long days. We were by his side the entire time fighting with him, and for him. Even though I was mourning the loss of his twin broth- er, I knew I had to stay strong for JohnCarlo. It was the most difficult experience I ever had to overcome in my life.
