Then the birds can poop a long way from home. That's how birds help spread seeds." "Do other animals eat seeds?" "Squirrels eat acorns and hickory nuts and black walnuts. They bury a lot of nuts and then dig them up to eat during the winter months. Sometimes they don't find all the nuts they bury. Then in the spring, those nuts can sprout and become baby trees." Many trees produce acorns. When they drop from the trees they can sprout.
