Ushering in the new year can only mean one thing here at Hudson Valley Parent: Gearing up for another fabulous Cover Kid event! It's hard to believe, but this year we will hold our 22nd Cover Kid event... How crazy is that? The event will take place on April 17th at the Newburgh Mall. Over the years, we've crowned 252 cover kids from all over the region. Our Cover Kid event has even helped launch full- fledged acting, modeling, and singing careers for a lot of our winners. One winner that was propelled into the lime- light after being on our December 2013 cover is 16 year old Raquel R. of Poughkeepsie. She has been in multiple feature films and has modeled for several companies as part of New York Fashion Week. Raquel also has her own fashion blog, and is your reigning Miss Dutchess County Teen! Raquel isn't the only Hudson Valley kid who's career skyrocketed after attending our Cover Kid event. Sophie P. of Hopewell Junction and Ciara G. of Hopewell Junction have both been working on the silver screen and in print ad campaigns! Kelly O. of Poughkeepsie had no idea our Cover Kid event would be a launching pad for her son, Dominick, who is now part of the Kids-On-TV program, a division of the New York Talent Club. If it's January it's Cover Kid Time TERRIE GOLDSTEIN Publisher's Journal Kai is 27 months from Monroe and was our December 2015 cover kid and he loves bouncing and playing outdoors. Kaylin is 3 years old from High- land and was our October 2015 cover kid. She loves driving in golf carts, and hugging and kissing her dad. Lauren is 8 years old from Highland and was our November 2015 cover kid. She loves dance, piano, and art. Gahvin is 2.5 years old from Newburgh and was our April 2015 cover kid. He is an all-around happy guy who likes to play soccer and hang out with his sister. Raquel is 16 years old from Poughkeepsie and was our December 2013 cover kid.
