Olana When most people think of the Hudson River, they think of the 19th Century Hudson River School of landscape painters. And there's no better way to get acquainted with this important American art move- ment than visiting Olana, the mag- nificent estate of landscape painter Frederic Edwin Church. Perched on a hill outside Hudson, this 250-acre estate features inspi- rational views of the Hudson Valley along its many walking trails. The house itself was designed by Calvert Vaux, the co-designer of New York's Central Park and houses Church's museum-quality collections of art and artifacts from all over the world. Details: The estate is located at 5720 Route 9G. Tours of the house itself cost $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and free for kids 12 and under.
