"In- stead of being inside playing video games, children can be outside, running around, and enjoying times with friends and family," says Rick Ryberg, office manager of Cousins Paintball in New Windsor. "It's a great outdoor activity for the young- er generation." Although the idea of it makes a lot of parents nervous, kids between the ages of 10 and 18 come to Cous- ins often and always have a blast. For very young children under the age of 10, there is a low-impact alternative to paintball called Splat- master that they can enjoy. But among older kids, accidents and injuries are extremely rare and staff members are trained to ensure that they follow safety procedures while using paintball equipment. The staff's focus on safety allows kids, whether at a private party or just out to enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine, to focus on having a good time. "Seeing the smile on a player's face once they've made a great move down the playing field or watching a child enjoy playing with his peers is the best thing about the game," Ryberg says.
