It might, for example, discuss a paper that the student wrote, giving exam- ples of how he or she understood the subject matter. The report will also give parents a thorough understanding of their child's classroom participation, level of preparation, creativity, critical thinking, and so on. "Teachers are assessing against benchmarks all the time, but they will write in detail about that, not just crank out a grade," says Chant.
