Hudson Valley Parent 17
They sought help from an area
adoption agency and the entire pro-
cess took six months from beginning
to end - including flying overseas
twice and tons of paperwork. Their
children were 2 1/2 and 13 months
old respectively when they brought
them home. Their daughter cried
for the entire 13 hour flight, which
the couple viewed as the birthing
process.
Now 14, Mohl's son is in high
school. Her 16-yr-old daughter plays
volleyball for her school's team and
hopes to attend the U.S. Military
Academy at West Point in the near
future. They know they are adopted,
and every year on December 16,
they celebrate their adoption birth-
day.
"Adoption has given us the most
amazing gifts and our life is truly
complete," Mohl says. "There's no
such thing as a perfect child, wheth-
er yours by birth or through adop-
tion, so there will be hurdles and
stumbling blocks. A child is a child."
Stacey Lutz is a new mom, free-
lance writer, and huge animal lover
who resides in Wurtsboro.
