6 Hudson Valley Parent n March 2019 I t's that time of year again. Paper hearts have been replaced with shamrocks and cupid has made way for leprechauns donning bright green suits. Spring is right around the corner and here at the HVP office, we are happily waving goodbye to this icy winter and welcoming warmer weather and longer, sunnier days. The start of spring marks a very special season for the members of the Hudson Valley Parent team and our readers. For the past few years, we have filled the month of March with exciting events catered to the families that count on us. This year, in classic HVP style, we are back and bigger than before. In March of 2018, Hudson Valley Parent teamed up with Abilities First to bring families with special needs an unforgettable day complete with a photo shoot from our beloved photographer Michael Bloom and a chance to be featured on our cover. The response from the parents was astounding so we knew we had to bring back the event and make it even better. This year, on March 9 at the Poughkeepsie Galleria, HVP and Abilities First are proud to present the My Abilities are Super 2019 Cover Kid Search for children with disabilities. For months we have been accepting entries and we can't wait to meet you all! Join us at this free event and enjoy special performances and giveaways plus awesome vendors and more. In honor of this exciting event, this month's magazine is packed with articles that celebrate kids with all types of abilities and needs. We have great parenting support this month for parents of children with obsessive compulsive disorder, autism, extreme allergies and more. We even got the inside scoop from a mom of a toddler on the spectrum about the best sensory-friendly places to play in the Hudson Valley. On March 24 from 12-3pm, Hudson Valley Parent will be back at the Poughkeepsie Galleria for the (drumroll please) 3rd Annual Camp-A-Palooza Fair! Get your chance to speak with camp representatives from arts camps, sports camps and everything in between. This free, family-friendly event is the perfect first step to start planning your summer. To make it even more intriguing, we will be giving away huge camp giveaways. What could be better than summer camp for free? Visit us online at HVParent.com/Camp-A-Palooza for updated information and details about the exciting camps that will be there with us. We can't wait to see you this month!
