What is the motivation that drives a writer through the inevitable bouts of writer's block? Come spend an hour with Richard Russo who won the Pulitzer Prize for Empire Falls and is currently promoting his new book Chances Are. Both Empire Falls and a later novel, Nobody's Fool, were adapted to film, the latter partly filmed in Poughkeepsie. Russo grew up in Gloversville, New York, and fondly remembers the town's public library. He told The New York Times , "I have such fond memories of the place, going there Saturday mornings with my grandfather or mother, who would wait forever for me to pick books. I just have this feeling that if it weren't for the Gloversville Free Library that I probably would not be a writer." Books will be available for purchase and signing.
