Kids will have an opportunity to meet and greet calves, chickens, cows, donkeys, ducks, geese, goats, horses, pigs, sheep, bunny rabbits, turkeys, llama and a miniature pony. The Petting Zoo opens in July and August. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Wednesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Before heading off to the fields to pick-your-own seasonal fruit (it's suggested to call ahead to find out what is currently available), your family can explore the gardens, walk the nature trail that offers views of the Helderberg Escarpment and then head over to the barnyard to meet Rosie the Scottish Highland cow, Mac the donkey, and their farmyard friends. Children also will be able to view a beehive display up close and per- sonal that is enclosed in glass. The bees come and go to collect pollen via a tube that leads outside. The farmer's market is open daily to purchase farm fresh products to cook up dinner later that night and homemade cider donuts are avail- able year-round. Your family can also grab lunch or a snack at the farm's Yellow Rock Cafe that is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the week- ends.
