In July and August the museum is open Monday through Saturday during the same hours. All exhibits are hands-on, and are designed to help children think and explore like scientists and engineers. Troy's Famous Lunch is the quintessential joint to grab some of the capital region's mini dogs. Only 65 cents each! Mom and Dad may want more, but each one is pint sized for kid friendly eating. USS Slater Destroyer Escort Historical Museum Broadway and Quay, Albany, NY 518-431-1943 ussslater.org Hours: Wednesday through Sunday 10am to 4pm. Admission: Adults $9, children 6 -14: $7 children 5 and under free The USS Slater is the last of the Destroyer Escorts that helped to protect U.S. fleets during World War II. Veteran tour guides lead visitors into the watch stations, battle stations, and living compartments of the sailors. Tours begin approximately every 20 minutes and last about 90 minutes.
