Spend your "me time" in ways that are good for your mental and physical health Ilana Charette's personal time makes her reset, pause and breathe (even if it's only for 10 minutes). She says the most important part is to get in touch with yourself and find out what you really need. Walking is one of her favorite ways to stay in the best physical health. "I walk outside, inside on the treadmill or even around my kitchen island. I try to go for a walk every morning so my husband is there to watch the kids before he leaves for work." Charette makes her mental health a priority and has specific ways to stay in the best emotional health. "I self-coach and get coached by others. Our brains like to offer thoughts and make suggestions in 'default mode' and we get stuck because we believe it and think it is true," she says. "I always make sure I question my thoughts and work on gaining perspective." She suggests other moms try listening to podcasts or audiobooks, doing yoga, stretching or meditating or taking some classes at the gym.
