20 Hudson Valley Parent n August 2019 Meet 10 kids who Mom Christine says: "A few years ago my son and I were homeless. I've worked hard to rebuild, always striving to give my son a childhood that is magical and happy. Richie has hopes to become a K9 police officer and wants to buy land to build us both a shark shaped farmhouse. I hope he has a happy life, one where he never stops reaching for the highest stars." Mom Felicita says: "My biggest hope for my child is that she continues to be an amazing person. She has a passion to one day find a cure for cancer and lupus. My hope is that she will one day receive a scholarship to a top school. Anelie always finds a way to make me feel better when my body says 'no more.' She caresses my hair and looks me in the eye and tells me that it is going to be okay and that she will find a cure one day to help stop the pain." Mom Melanie says: "My wish for Elise is to believe in herself as much as we believe in her. Over the last two years Elise has struggled with self-confidence and despite her amazing talents feels she's not good enough. To help with her self-esteem Elise started counseling and she has come a long way. I am amazed by all she can do and not a day goes by when I don't feel absolutely blessed that she is in my life." T here's no denying it… The Hudson Valley is chock-full of incredible kids and parents just waiting for the opportunity to brag about them! We asked parents to tell us their biggest wish for their child and we were overwhelmed with all the great submissions. We read stories about kids who have overcome bullying and self-confidence issues, handled medical conditions and homelessness with positive attitudes and so much more. Choosing our finalists was not easy but we are proud to announce our 2019 Incredible Kids! We would also like to extend a hearty thank you to our Incredible Kids sponsor, The Children's Medical Group. Richie, 8, Beekman Elise, 15, Montgomery Mom Kerry says: "Mikayla was my eighth pregnancy after so many losses and my true miracle. I want nothing more than for her to be happy, feel loved and be a good person." Anelie, 10, Newburgh Mikayla, 8 months, Newburgh
